Standards*: A.4.2: Communicate mathematical ideas in a variety of ways including words, numbers, symbols, pictures, charts, graphs, tables, diagrams, and models.

A.4.3: Connect mathematical learning with other subjects, personal experiences, current events, and personal interests.

Objective: Students will construct line, bar, circle, and pictographs when given data.

Materials: Statistical information in regards to injuries/deaths by gender and age for bicycle, motorcycle, and other sports related crashes (with and without helmet use). Graph paper, pencils, crayons, or markers.

Activity: Students will interpret previously collected data to construct line, bar, circle, and pictographs which provide information for identifying who suffers these injuries/death, as well as, where and when these crashes occur. Students will also view age appropriate videos and pictures to help put the statistics in a realistic perspective.

Assessment: Students will be able to translate given data onto a graph with 80% accuracy.
